Eight Days A Week

The Pastor likes rock and roll???

Do you remember that song by the Beatles? Eight Days A Week? This past Friday, Beach Boysmy husband and I were driving home when he suddenly said, “I’m in the mood for the Beach Boys.” After he stopped the car and picked me up off the pavement, I asked where that desire came from. I supposed that it was inspired by his driving his girlfriend (me!) around in his muscle car, and he was in the mood for a little rebellious rock and roll. Now let me explain something. My husband was not a listener of rock and roll music in his youth (as opposed to me—who listened to my favorite rock station “KCPX!” day in and day out. If you get really quiet, you might actually hear me singing the jingle.)

So, when he requested that I find it on the Sirius radio while he was driving, I scrambled. Finally, we were listening to something by the Beach Boys, then a bunch of singers I didn’t recognize. We even heard a song by Elvis. Before we got home, the song Eight Days A Week by the Beatles played. You know, “Hold me, love me, hold me, love me! Ain’t got nothin’ but love babe, eight days a week!”

I like his passion…

Eight Days A WeekI listened to those lyrics and thought, “What passion!” (Even if it was the Beatles.) The entire message of this song is the passion that this boy has for his girl. He needs her love, and he hopes she needs his love just as much! This young man thinks about her constantly and hopes she’s thinking about him. In fact, he loves her so much that he wishes that there were more days in the week just to love her.

Wouldn’t it be cool if we had that kind of passion about God? He certainly has that kind of passion about us. We are ALWAYS on His mind. He may not need us, but He wants nothing more than to spend eternity with us. US! Can you believe it?

“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Deuteronomy 6:5

Do you love God? Do you have a passion for Him? Have you thanked Him because of all His wonderful blessings?

“We love him, because he first loved us.” 1st John 4:19

Let’s love God eight days a week! In the meantime, God bless and keep you all as you ROCK ON!!!
